  1. I hope they are better than the previous towel. The previous towel was terrible. Was one of the worst clay alternatives I have used. It just sits in the package after not even one use and will probably end up in the trash. I have seen the new ones and they do look nice. I won't think I will be picking these up as I found one that I am satisfied with.
  2. Personal preference on which to use.
  3. You should not need to use ONR after applying gloss coat. It is recommended to use opti-seal 1 hour after the last coat of gloss coat so that is perfectly fine. It will protect gloss coat during the curing time. It is not recommended to wash prior to at least 7 days.
  4. I would not over think it and use either one. I use opti-clean on a weekly/bi weekly wipe down and have no issues. It does not degrade the protection I have on the various areas unless I scrub very hard. But for light dust build up it is just fine.
  5. The blue foam applicator or the suede applicator work great.
  6. I made some slight changes to your process. With regards to opti-glass you can use it on all glass. It is up to you on which way to proceed.
  7. Lol maybe that is why it marred the paint for you. I have some eagle edgeless towels that I don't use that much anymore. I used to do the multiple towel method with other rinseless washes and these are some of the best towels for that purpose. With ONR I use the BRS. With other rinseless washes I use a microfiber wash mitt and a two bucket system as ONR does a better job of encapsulating dirt in the bucket and take it to the bottom. But there are times when I don't want anything left behind on the surface. I don't use the eagle edgeless for QD as they tend to lint too much for my liking and don't do that nice of a job. The TRC wizard which is 360 is a better towel for that.
  8. It's a long nap with what they refer to as their coral fleece microfiber.
  9. I disliked the regular minx towel as I found it to not be as good as their eagle edgeless for rinseless washing. I disliked how the minx felt on the paint and the fact that it did not absorb water that well or even work with a drying aid that well. I had no interest in the minx royale and you just gave me another reason to not even consider it.
  10. That is a good point about using ONR on the interior as well. I prefer using opti-clean on the interior more so than ONR. Cleans well and leaves a nice fresh scent that lingers for a tiny bit.
  11. Here is what someone posted on Autogeek the other day. See post #133 https://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/auto-detailing-101-a/117966-tried-big-red-sponge-today-14.html#post1562193
  12. One bucket with ONR and a grit guard. The dirt is released by the sponge easily with a quick agitation on the grit guard and ONR takes the dirt to the bottom of the bucket. I trust the science of the product and up to now it has not failed me. I have never done a hose rinse. I wash on a weekly basis and there is no need for me to hose rinse. If the vehicle is too dirty then I just bucket wash. I do use a pre-soak with ONR just to have ONR start breaking the dirt and encapsulating the dirt that is on the surface.
  13. I use the BRS when I use ONR. In the course of 2 years, I have not had a single issue. No scratching or marring with it. I started off with the multiple towel method but switched over to the BRS. Saves me from using so many towels and is much quicker to clean the paint. Never used the blue sponge.
  14. Good questions. For me it's a case by case situation. There are times when the paint will need a bucket wash over a rinseless wash. Rinseless washes are great for those vehicles that are washed on a weekly regiment where little to no dirt is on the surface. Possibly even washing bi-weekly. I have read and heard different things mentioned about the polymers from the facebook group and on the optimum synergy podcast. I have heard that the polymers are there to assist in dirt removal and giving that "cushion" to not marr the surface during the process. I have recently read that ONR does not leave anything behind on the surface thus making it paint safe and ok to use prior to polishing based on what Yvan and the other members have mentioned in the facebook group . Take that for what it's worth. Based on your situation it appears that you prefer to use the bucket wash over ONR. If the bucket washes are working then no sense in breaking what is not broken. If you wish to venture into rinseless washing and be more efficient than ONR is good for that. If you wish to leave some protection behind you have a variety of products that can be used as drying aid such as Opt car wax and opti-seal. You also have the option to use the new Hyper Seal which contains SiO2 in it. I found this post from Chris Thomas. It is from some time ago but it should still pertain to the car wash.
  15. If your glass is in good shape then a clay, prep and coat would work fine. If you have some sort of previous layer of a glass sealant/coating then you would want to polish. No need to mask off any surrounding areas. Spray onto the glass and spread. If some gets onto another surface a simple wipe off will get it off before it starts to flash and cure. I would recommend flushing out the sprayer after using the glass coating to prevent the sprayer from getting clogged.
  16. Found this in the optimum car care facebook group. So unless something has changed, I would stick with opti-seal 1 hour after gloss coat.
  17. It is not the easiest glass coating to use but it is one of the best performing glass coatings on the market. I would recommend to work in smaller sections or you will be working hard to level out the coating.
  18. Try the optimum carpet cleaner. It works really well.
  19. Levi mentions the same thing in this video. Starting around the 16 minute mark.
  20. One thing I forgot to mention is to look into xpel. They make pre-cut headlight protection film that is quite thick. Then one can coat over the film as an optional step to have the hydrophobic properties. Or possibly the shop you are going to sells the new optimum paint protection film. That will keep the headlights looking good for a long time. I currently have xpel on my new headlights with a coating on the film. Will also keep them from getting pitted from highway driving.
  21. For new headlights I would just have them use pro plus on them. If the headlights needed some sort of restoration then opti-lens would be the way to go.
  22. Yes it can. Check out the video wash, clay, wax from the rag company YouTube channel. It is recommended to use optimum car wax with the clay towel to not have marrig occur. Another option is to chemical decontaminate the paint. Yvan and Dann go over that on the podcast dated 2/1/2017.
  23. I would just clean them every so often and not worry about coating them.
  24. I was looking for the photo in the optimum Facebook group with the sponge being all shriveled up after one person let it dry out. Couldn't find it.
  25. Nothing. Will need to be resoaked so it absorbs the ONR again.
