  1. Another new product designed to simplify cleaning, Interior Cleaner focuses the process for interior surfaces. Optimum has prided itself that it's products performed multiple functions, improving efficiency and reducing the investment. Those multi-functional products are still available, but OPT became aware that the general public gets confused by differing directions. As opposed to Protectant Plus, Interior Cleaner is just that, an interior cleaner, and it's name leaves no question of it's purpose. On the other hand, Protectant Plus is a light cleaner the coats/conditions leather, is hydrophobic and has UV protection. I tested Interior Cleaner on home leather furniture, spraying directly onto the surface and misting a quality microfiber towel (a soft bristled brush works as well). I agitated the solution, then wiped any residue/dirt because like ONR, this product encapsulates dirt. Interior Cleaner is definitely a stronger cleaner and has a slight Power Clean scent. I could tell from the microfiber it was taking off more dirt. I followed Interior Cleaner with Protectant Plus as a leather conditioner and spill protection. FYI, PP has a much nicer fragrance. Interior Cleaner should replace any stronger cleaning product for leather, plastic, vinyl, fabric, etc. Used in conjunction with Protectant Plus, Interior Cleaner will leave your car interior clean AND coated. My wife stated she could tell the difference on the sofa, it looked and felt cleaner, no sticky spots or dull leather.
  2. I got a sample of the new Waterless Wash & Shine (not available from OPT yet). This product is designed to take advantage of a growing segment in car care - the true waterless category. Opti-Clean was introduced years ago and is an excellent waterless product, but one that never found a market. I've used it for years as a pre-spray/spot cleaner, and occasionally a stand alone product. Feedback from Amazon indicated waterless outsold rinseless by a large margin, so Dr G formulated a new entry. Optimum's Waterless is ready to use and the name describes what it is much better than Opti-Clean. Enough background - the car used for Waterless Wash & Shine test was unevenly dirty - upper section reasonably clean, but lower panels rain splashed. The vehicle was Opti-Coated 9 years ago, but the ceramic is still there. It's been maintained with ONR, Opti-Seal, Hyper Seal, and recently Ultra. Upper portions cleaned easily but a few lower panels required a second pass, not unusual for waterless. It was a very easy process and my wife commented on the shine, typical for this car that is red and really amps the ceramic coating. The Waterless fragrance seemed lightly like bubble gum and was pleasant. I didn't clean wheels/tires (saving them for new Wheel & Tire Cleaner) and I used Stoners on glass...some waterless are streaky on glass and I will test at a later date. IMO Opti-Clean is the stronger cleaner, but Waterless is idiot simple to use and has a place on car enthusiasts shelves.
  3. This was a new combination, at least for me. Wanting to wash my car before a 10 hour drive for the holidays and due to single digit temps along with laziness, I decide to do an instant detailer clean up with a drying aid (car was not too dirty). I used the quick detailer ratio of No Rinse Wash & Wax and Ultra Ceramic Seal combination for the first time. Wash was fast and didn't require a second pass, and Ultra went on easy with no streaking/hazing. Car looked great, gloss was excellent and beading was outstanding (went through several storms). The whole process was so quick and easy, could become addictive.
  4. Zombie has it right, no need to dry before Paint Prep
  5. Optimum just renamed Zentool to Optimum DA - they are made in China to Optimum's specs. Zentool was originally designed and sourced by Optimum's Australian distributor and Dr G brought it inhouse.
  6. I don't agree that Hyper Seal has poor hydrophobics, but you are welcome to double up to see if that works for you.
  7. as stated in the announcement, Hyper Seal, Opti-Seal, and Spray Wax are new formulas with added ceramic components for greater durability.
  8. it has a New Formula sticker, but that's probably from the last update, not to return to norm scent.
  9. Yes, return the Instant Detailer to Optimum and they will send you new formula - return to the attention of Chasaty 5768 Distribution Dr, Memphis, TN 38141
  10. any Instant Detailer from OPT will be revised formula (I can't promise Amazon, Autogeek, etc will have rotated stock). I will check on exchanging.
  11. Thank you for making this video. Surprisingly I still get regular calls from new ONR users and this time of year they ask will it work on winter sludge...They've read reviews and had recommendations but for some it's still a leap of faith to move away from rinsing. I tell them my vehicles have never been too dirty for ONR but I hear the doubt in their voices. You'd be amazed how many use ONR and still rinse their cars, both before and after...
  12. I haven't been doing my share to keep information flowing. I have new products to sample and planned to test on my son-in-laws car over Christmas, but got sick and haven't recovered yet. I'm am very rarely ill and it SUCKS when it happens. Just before we traveled for the holidays I tried a new method - I used ONR in quick detailer mix, followed by Ultra Ceramic Seal. The car was pretty clean and the combination worked great... and was way easy/fast. More information to come -
  13. I think that's what I said, formula changed to improve water spot removal (a worthy goal) but chemical smell was too much. I'm guessing it's back to the old formula, but have asked for clarification.
  14. The spray Instant Detailer is back to the original scent. OPT reformulated to make it a more effective water spot remover, but the fragrance was a turn off for others and we're back to the old smell.
  15. try soaking the spray head in hot water/dish detergent (or Power Clean). Like many thick products, Instant Detailer can congeal over time and needs to be shaken briskly to reconstitute. Water can be added to help. Some put nuts in the bottle to keep the solution broken up. ID has a long shelf life.
  16. recognizing the current popularity of foam (and selling wash products that do not foam - ONR), the newest Waterless Wash & Shine will foam. I use Opti-Clean Waterless for standalone washing but also mostly as a pre-spray/spot cleaner. I have a sample to try (full production is waiting for a component to be delivered) and will be curious how it works. FYI, I added a small foamer to my Christmas List, will see how generous Santa feels...decided to at least try this new gimmick. The newest Waterless is rinseless, requiring only drying. I can't test under the same extreme winter conditions as Setec, living in a mild winter state (entirely by design).
  17. Dr G states Power Clean and ONR are not compatible and should not be mixed. I know that's contrary to what I said before and was told, sometime. I do know that we recommend rinsing Power Clean with ONR dampened MF, due to the pH balancing.
  18. Dr G - I think the answer should come from Meguairs. Officially we recommend contacting local officials to find out how to dispose chemical products. Sometimes they take them and dispose of it themselves. Unofficially I would dilute it with running water at a high flow rate and dump the acid down the drain which is what happens when they use it on wheels and wash it off anyways. To be snarky, I suggest no high level representative from Meguiars would respond, but proudly I give Dr G credit that he answers every question I bring to him.
  19. thank you for the detailed write up and supporting what many have reported - ease of use, variety of benefits, and the cumulative affect of using OPT products.
  20. The Good Doctor - Ferrex contains the Sodium salt of Thyoglycolic acid which is neutral similar to sodium chloride which is table salt and is neutral. It is therefore very different from the unreacted Thyoglycolic acid and very different from Phosphoric acid as well.
