  1. whether test is flawed or not, Dr G has provided his take - As he said all our testing was at 300 nm or shorter wavelengths and I think he is wrong since UVA is shorter than UVB not longer as he suggested.
  2. Tug, it's semantics - the coating "completely cured" for the customer in 7 days, but there's internal crosslinking (David's description) going on for 30+ days. The crosslinking is transparent to the customer and has no effect on washing/driving habits.
  3. (a) like so often with pictures/video, I don't see what he's talking about, and (b) for there to be marring only on 1 section it sounds like a dirty drying towel or flawed wash procedure.
  4. ONR mixed in a spray bottle has indefinite shelf life, mixed in a bucket it's fine until you introduce wash media (sponge/towel/mitt) and then the clock starts ticking. Dirt/bacteria in the media will contaminate the ONR and usually after a day or 2 it gets funky - slimy, off smelling - and needs to be dumped.
  5. Optimum Spray Wax has PATENTED UV PROTECTION - the government does not issue patents without extensive (and expensive) independent lab reviews. I did a study for Dr G and found that very few manufacturers even mention UV on their labels and no one has patented protection.
  6. I would suggest they HAVE changed the market
  7. without putting words in Dr G's mouth, I think he believes "wax" is older technology and polymer sealants have greater durability, gloss, hardness, and ease of application. it's obviously a personal choice but I don't see Optimum offering the wax options you mention (We're not a Flavor of the Month Company) and the market is not going that direction.
  8. I saw that Dr G recommended that and asked if it had changed. He said the formula was always 8-10 oz to 1 gallon and that 10 oz was a better cleaner/slicker formula. I found 8 oz to work fine and the 1 oz to 16 oz of water alternative easier to make. It's your choice.
  9. Dr G wanted to get the new version out because he felt it was such a great product.
  10. yes, cleaning up old inventory (not a big mover) - new formula is on page 2.
  11. The new Optimum Hyper™ Compound Revision #5 has the fastest cut while finishing like a polish and works much better than any other compound. Optimum Hyper™ Compound is the first and only spray compound in the marketplace that can remove 1,000 grit and deep scratches in seconds while creating a great finish. Optimum Hyper™ Compound was designed for professional detailers and auto body shops to cut through wet sanding marks and deep scratches in one or two passes. Optimum Hyper™ Compound offers all the advantages of Optimum line of polishes with long working time and low to no dusting.
  12. while there can be differing quality in car covers, in general we do not recommend them. It's easy for dirt to collect under the cover and removing the cover can cause minor marring.
  13. Hyper Seal does not ruin microfiber towels and blue and green ONR work equally well with Hyper Seal.
  14. 3 coatings would be overkill and while Opti-Coat Pro can be layered, you will not be adding durability or scratch resistance, only ensuring good coverage.
  15. Instant Detailer can be used as a drying aid or stand alone product - it is perfectly safe on Opti-Coat Pro Plus.
  16. in general Gloss-Coat does not require polish, but that depends on the car and owner.
  17. there is no limit to what prep the installer will do (and no "stage 2 or stage 3) - the detailer has latitude in pricing to include whatever level of correction is necessary. If the customer won't spend the money to do the job right, that's their call.
  18. Thank you A&J, you know me so well - I usually wash with ONR, but sometimes for really light dirt/pollen, I use Opti-Clean and it works well on interiors as well.
  19. I use ONR/Opti-Clean on my interior surfaces including leather every time I wash my cars...sometimes I follow up with Protectant Plus.
  20. welcome to the OPT Forum. All the regular Optimum products will work on your ceramic, but for the best results, the Opti-Coat line is specifically formulated for superior performance on your coating. In particular, wax/sealants will not bond to ceramic coatings, but Opti-Coat Ultra and Hyper Seal have components that will bond for great durability on your paint.
  21. it's always good to use DI or distilled water if available, but ONR softens hard water - the same capsulation of dirt that allows rinseless washing also works to separate the minerals in water and pull them away from paint. You're welcome to mix ONR stronger, but it's not necessary unless you have unusually hard water.
  22. Yes, ONR is an excellent interior cleaner and Leather Protectant (Protectant Plus) cleans and reconditions leather plus provides UV protection on vinyl and plastic. It's not only great on interiors but also is Optimum's best exterior product on plastic trim.
