I was just wondering. I thought that during our phone convo a few months back you stated that it wouldn't remove LSP, but now the question has come up elsewhere and I wanted to be sure without misquoting you. I usually use Powerclean 5:1 on bugs prior to washing to loosen them. I recently thought about using it as a prespray on lower panels before a ONR wash. When I brought up the presoak with Powerclean, the stripping of LSP question came up. Dr. G: please advise 'cause you da man!

Thank you for bringing this up. Any product that can remove grease and oil will remove wax to some extent also. Depending on the concentration and the dwell time on the surface, Power Clean can remove the LSP to some degree. It is best to use Power Clean if you are waxing afterwards or just apply wax/sealant to the areas you used it on. Thanks again.

I recall you saying it was non caustic which means not corrosive, but I think I read too much into that. It works soooo well that I may continue to use it and just be sure to touch up those areas with Optiseal or Optimum Car Wax. Will it be Ok if followed with ONR or does it need to be rinsed more thoroughly?

That would depend greatly upon the concentration of the Power Clean. If diluted for general cleaning you should have no problem with using it as a pre-treat for bugs and such and then rinsing it away with a ONR wash.

If using full strength you may want to double wash that area just to make sure it's fully rinsed then give it a touch up with OCW.

Technically, it's both. It's not a dedicated degreaser but can be used as one.

Sounds like Power Clean would make a good substitute for P21S Total Auto Wash which I like very much just don't care for its price.

Anthony, have you tried Power Clean on an engine detail yet?

I have, but I like a dedicated degreaser better on the bad ones. Average ones it is very good full strength or 1:1, I've used 5:1 as a prespray with great results, 3:1 on wheels-tires-wells, 10:1 on interiors.

Like Chris noted the PC is great for engines and it will tackle some pretty grimy engines but it may not work as fast as some dedicated type degreasers.

I see. Power Clean does somewhat sound like P21S Total Auto Wash in that it is a cross between a APC and a Degreaser. I do like PowerClean's price tag much better though. Looks like a great product. Next time I order something from a site that sell Optimum I may have to include a gallon of Power Clean and compare it to Meguiars APC+ and Total Auto Wash.

There is a detailer of another board that uses powerclean to prewash cars, says to remove the wax or sealant, Im not sure if he dilutes it or uses full strength
