  1. Opti-Glass

Zerix, at this time there's no plan to change the formula on the retail version of Opti-Glass.
  2. Optimum Pad Selection

the blue is a finishing pad - would probably work but would take a lot of polishing. Orange, black or white pads much better choice to remove marring and OCP.
  3. Decon wash

Optimum has not tested OPC with Car Wash, so the ratio is not determined (there are many videos out there that are not connected with OPT)...I would say no stronger than 3 :1 and probably 5:1.
  4. Deep South Texas

Good Luck and let us know if we can help - lot's of very knowledgeable folks here!
  5. Dr G is aware of Scott's videos and is crafting his response. My take, for a guy "not throwing Optimum under the bus", Scott only refers to Optimum and repeats the name frequently. This is the 2nd video he attacks Optimum Spray Wax directly.
  6. Brand new car headlights

first, Opti-Lens is not Opti-Coat with added UV, but specially formulated to adhere to plastic where Coatings are more general in their applications. Second, Opti-Lens is a permanent coating that will last well beyond 1 - 2 years if properly maintained. I do agree that one shouldn't sand off factory coating unless it's failing.
  7. Car wax and opti seal 24month life?

I have had Wax and Seal for more than 2 years (hard to use Seal up) and it's still effective. We do recommend temperature ranges for best practices and it's possible products lose some effectiveness, but I doubt they become useless. I have requested feedback from Dr G. Optimum has never argued that Wax or Seal are superior to manufacturers clear coat...but will gladly compare Gloss-Coat or Opti-Coat Pro.
  8. Hello from South Europe

the problem with giving specific instructions on wiping after application is that it can vary so much with environment. Cool/ dry conditions can give you 5 minutes or more to wipe, hot/humid conditions can create almost immediate curing. One size does not fit all, therefore the 80% flash suggestion...and how do you measure that accurately? It's a moving target and experience is the best predictor of success. Fortunately corrections are easy and nothing is permanent.
  9. A&J is so correct - there is no one way to care for cars (though there are wrong ways). I'm frequently asked which is better, wax or seal, BRS or mitt, circular motion or up/down, etc. There is no replacement for personal experience and experimentation.
  10. Hello from South Europe

sorry, meant you can spray water on Gloss-Coat after 1 hour...
  11. Opti-Seal Q&A

Christopher, that was my point with A&J first posted the video. A dedicated product can work better, but OS is a poor man's jackknife, does everything pretty well.
  12. Brand new car headlights

Chris comments were from 4 years ago when Opti-Lens was first introduced. Optimum has learned that Opti-Lens does not bond well to existing Manufacturers UV protection, but Coatings (OCP, Gloss-Coat ) do. To apply OL to new (or newer) headlights, we recommend sanding/polishing the existing protection. OL is a permanent coating and in most cases needs to be polished to remove.
  13. Hello from South Europe

you can spray Gloss-Coat now and dry (gently) with a quality drying towel - it's the solvents in soap you need to avoid for 7 days. Pressure washer is OK as well, again, gently.
  14. Hello from South Europe

would love to hear how it all turns out.
  15. Hello from South Europe

You should recap Gloss-Coat tightly after use - it can last several years if moisture is kept out of the syringe. The instructions for Gloss-Coat suggest a follow up wipe in 1 - 2 minutes and a good quality, clean micro fiber is fine. Some installers use the original applicator pad with no issues.
  16. have never gotten a "scientific" explanation from Dr G about water spots disappearing, but he acknowledges the fact and recommends allowing UV to work it's magic.
  17. We are pleased to announce the following new items are available for purchase online! • New & Improved Compound II is designed to remove 1,500 grit sanding marks leaving very minor marring. The new Compound II has a long working time and zero dust and can be used at any temperature or humidity without any issues. • The Next Generation of Zentool ZEN-21E2 Dual Action Polisher! While Zentool 21E represents one of the latest advancements in machine polishing technology, the New 21E2 motor, gear, and other internal parts have been improved to make it smoother and quieter while making the maintenance easier. The exterior also has been improved to not only make a great looking polisher, but also improve the performance and handling. The brushes can be accessed and removed from the outside and there is no need to remove the covers. • Optimum Hyper Wool Rotary Pad: Optimum's Hyper Wool Rotary Pad is designed for maximum cutting and user comfort. The unique integrated interface of the Hyper Wool Rotary Pad also makes for a better user experience with reduced vibration and precision control. Available in both 6 and 8 inch diameters with a centering hole the Hyper Wool Rotary Pad will quickly become your go to rotary cutting pad.
  18. Opti-Seal Q&A

A&J is dead on - OS works on all exterior surfaces and is particularly effective on glass - wipers will take it off front windshields but on mirror and side windows it has great durability.
  19. ONRWW would not "fill" scratches. While OCP+ is not described as self-healing, we have seen multiple examples where UV/sunlight has caused water spots to disappear.
  20. Hello from South Europe

ONRWW mixed 2 oz to 1 gallon makes a good clay lube.
  21. Quasi-newbie from SE Ohio here

welcome to the Optimum Party -
  22. Hello from South Europe

not annoying at all - ask away! A spray wax will work over Gloss-Coat for temporary protection. Eithere ONR will work, or you can use Power Clean or dish detergent. I clean sponges by hand and microfibers in a washing machine with other towels - no fabric softener.
  23. Hello from South Europe

Coatings do not "fill" - the application is much too thin.
  24. Gloss coat marking

I'm probably asked weekly about the "scratch resistance" of coatings and there's no good answer. Will any coating protect against rocks striking your hood - No. Will they protect against poor washing/drying habits or things brushing against the paint - maybe. Coatings provide better protection than manufacturers clear coat, look better, stay cleaner, and simplify maintenance. If you want better protection, look into paint film...but good luck finding that for anywhere near $300.
  25. Applying opti seal with microfiber towel

sometimes my pad squeaks, and that's usually my cue to spray again.
