inth Posted July 11, 2020 Share Posted July 11, 2020 Hello, I was cleaning the interior of my car with 128:1 ONR and terry microfiber towels. I passed over the gauge cluster and it looks like I either damaged them or removed some sort of polish that was masking damage already there. In the picture, it's the blemishes directly in the center of the middle gauge and on the bottom right of the right gauge. Any advice on how to correct this? Thank you in advance. Try using ONR again with a soft Microfiber towel...if its really scratched then Ron might give his blessing if its safe to use Hyper polish by hand on that gauge cluster cover or not. inth Posted July 23, 2020 Author Share Posted July 23, 2020 I got around to cleaning the gauge cluster cover again. This time I dampened an Eagle Edgeless microfiber cloth with 256:1 ONR and went over the cluster cover again, drying it off with another Eagle Edgeless. It did indeed make it worse. Does anyone know how this sort of thing can be repaired? I'm assuming I'll need to take it to a professional with a tool to re-polish the plastic. LostVulpine Posted July 23, 2020 Share Posted July 23, 2020 I would tend to agree with No Soap, I am an amateur compared to most on here to be me that looks more of a residue than actual scratching/damage . . . maybe a little stronger than ONR is needed to remove it, glass cleaner sprayed on to a cloth perhaps? I would think something along the likes of this would be the case. Be very careful with what you do further. You could try a glass MF towel with distilled water, very gently, and see what happens.
